About Us 💖

Mao Projects is an award-winning ceramic studio in Canada, famous for its handmade creations. We make special tableware and accessories inspired by kawaii and shojo culture, which bring a peaceful vibe to everyday life.

Each item is uniquely designed by Mao and Chris, fired to 2000°F to ensure it's safe for food and can go in the microwave, unless states otherwise. We're proud of our work, blending anime inspiration with classic craftsmanship to create something truly unique.

Why Handmade Ceramics? 🌟

Mao:" I grew up in China and moved to Canada in my 20's for university. Growing up, animation was a big part of my life, and embracing cuteness has always been important to me. However, I often felt out of place because I had to hide my love for kawaii to fit in. It was always difficult to find cute items in Canada, which is why my partner, Chris, and I decided to make our own cute ceramics for everyday use.

Our years studying fine art here have honed our artistic skills, allowing us to bring my dream of cute tableware to life. This project quickly gained over 200,000 fans worldwide, and we believe many people crave this "cute power." This has motivated us to pursue this passion full-time."

Being part of animation conventions gives us a sense of belonging. The fact that people love our designs adds significant meaning to our creations. We believe handmade cute ceramics offer a unique and appealing addition to a convention and shows. These ceramics merge traditional craftsmanship with beloved anime and kawaii themes, providing both artistic value and practical use.

Each piece carries a personal story, making them an intriguing choice for attendees and a standout feature. Being part of animation conventions gives us a sense of belonging. The fact that people love our designs adds significant meaning to our creations.
